Here's a quick way to disable BS startup programs that slow down your computer. Hit your Windows(key)+R and open your run menu. Type in msconfig and go to the Startup tab. And deselect the programs you can recognize and do not need to startup. |

If the problem occurs in every software application I would rule that out as the problem. It is most likely hardware damage. You could try a driver update just to be sure. The fastest way would be to use an automatic driver update utility. Download the free scan from http://www.pcdriverupdate.com and see if it helps. |

You can probably do it through some kind of virtual machine software--make an image of that partition and access it with virtual PC or something. I have never done it but I am sure it is possible. |

Yes. You can download the operating system (be sure to let the download run overnight unless you have superfast Internet access), and then install it on your netbook using a USB key. The key must have 4GB or more free storage space, and you'll need to wipe everything off it. If you're comfortable with command lines, you can use the Diskpart utility, but most people will prefer to simply use the Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool. As its name suggests, the tool will also create a bootable DVD from which you can install the OS just as though you'd bought the installer discs in the store; but that's no help if you don't want to go out and buy an external disc drive for your netbook. |

This is normal behavior for many computers. Many computers have the ability to increase or decrease the speed of the fans installed in them and when first turning on the computer or when restarting they'll be at their fastest speed to help keep everything cool. After a few seconds the fans should go back to their normal speed and cause the computer to be quiet again. If the fans stay loud you may have an issue with one or more of the fans in the computer.

It sure is. You can go to distrowatch.com for listings of Linux distros. They also have help topics. Ubuntu is a fairly easy Linux distro for beginners. It also now has a way for the user to add the distro into Windows just like you would add any other program or app. Once you download the iso, you just burn the iso image to disc and the start it up like you would any other disc and install it. Then whne you reboot the computer you will have dual-boot. You will be able to choose between logging into either Windows or the Ubuntu partition. |
